Edge of Panic

Today I go to swim practice and realize my knee is swollen. And painful when kicking, pushing off the wall, going up/down stairs. However, it is no longer painful when sitting down to use the toilet... which perhaps is a good thing. After talking to people at work I find out that most likely the bursa sacs in my knee (which are there to protect it) have ruptured and it may take a month or longer for the swelling to go down. Uh, WHAT?!? So that means I am out for a month for running, maybe swimming with kicking, and I'm not sure about cycling. Oh I may die. My coworkers told me to chill out and get fat. I think I'd rather die. I guess at least for this Saturday - next Tuesday I am going back to NY and will not have much time to exercise or anything. But this FUCKING sucks.

In the meantime, I think of my friend who is also unable to run at the moment. And all the pro women blogs I read who have had to take time off for injury or overtraining. This is tough. I cannot remember the last time I took time off and did not go more than a day without running or doing something. The last time I took a week off I think I was in Shanghai the summer before freshmen year of college. Oh dear...

I am also going to attempt to kick my sugar habit, since I won't be training and those calories will be unnecessary. However... that apparently is not going to start tonight. Hey, I ought to finish the ice cream in the freezer before I start right???
