The uncertain future

So I rarely ever make goals. Like... I think they're silly and if I want to do something I will go do it. So maybe these really aren't goals, but things I want to decide on or accomplish within the first eight months of 2008 when I'm living in Austin.

- Find somewhere to live within walking distance of Town Lake. Driving there ~5 times a week and trying to find parking is such a pain in the ass. Granted, I will miss the hills on Oltorf, but I figure I can run during lunch at work.
- Limit the weight gain. Up ~5 lbs since the last triathlon in September. Lose gained weight by early tri season.
- Decide whether to get a tri bike or a coach. More on this later.
- Keep swimming consistently. I was able to get up to 12k+ yds this fall... would like to continue in the spring/summer.
- Maybe join the Masters program at the gym. That way, I won't be limited in time when wanting to swim after work. And the coach seems helpful, at least from what I saw last spring.
- Figure out how to get faster on the bike. This is going to be hard...
- Try not to spend so much money. Rent (+utilities/Internet/cable/etc), food (from Whole Foods...), gym membership, race fees... all add up. So try not to waste money on stuff I don't need.

Races:
- Austin Marathon (already registered)
- National Collegiate Triathlon ??? Do I want to drive 12 hours to Tuscaloosa, AL, to get my ass kicked by some super fast college triathletes?
- Buffalo Springs 70.3
- random races in Austin and the area within 1-2 hrs drive

And the most important thing? GET FASTER. Would like to take at least 5-10 minutes off my Oly time (2:53) and anything off my half-iron (6:14).

You should, at the very least, buy a book on training for triathlon. Then actually draw up a training plan based on it....and do it....if you don't get a coach. It made me faster.
