So I FINALLY had a good, high volume, relatively high intensity weekend of training. It was preceded by an eating contest against my manager (infamous for his eating talents) at Thursday lunch at an Italian buffet. I was able to tie my manager in number of plates consumed - one of few, if any, co-ops to do so. Friday I also ate a lot as I had lunch with my co-co-op and his girlfriend at a Korean/Japanese place. And then we stopped at this bakery and I had a muffin while sitting in traffic on the way back to work and I also bought a dozen cinnamon/pecan rolls. (Plus 6 more at Whole Foods because they were on sale.) Saturday morning I went to an open water swim "race" to attempt 2.4 miles in Mansfield Dam for the first time. Since it is open water, there is no resting, but there are wetsuits. Without my wetsuit I most likely would not have survived. But I made it! 1 hour 25 minutes 5 seconds got me 3rd place in the 20-29 age group. Then I drove south to Mopac/45 and did 50 miles on the bike and 3 miles on foot for a good brick. The first 16-20 miles were tough - I didn't think open water swimming would be enough to make me that sore, but luckily I was able to push through. And today I did the 360 loops twice (Arboretum to Barton Creek Mall and back) plus a little side loop onto Lost Creek Boulevard. I turned around when I saw a big downhill though since I feared if I went down then I'd have to come back up and my legs would not make it back up to the Arboretum. Then an easy swim in the pool. It was getting hot towards the end of the bike, but not horrible. I am proud to say that this is the first time I rode 360 by myself, and I did not make an bad traffic moves and I was able to survive 2 loops. CapTex is in a week, and if I can hold onto this training momentum, hopefully it will be a good race. And hopefully this damn saddle sore will go away too.
Week of 05/12 - 05/18:
Mon - 2500m swim, 8 mi run
Tues - 3000m swim, 45min trainer/6 mi run
Weds - 1 hr strength, 40min trainer/6 mi run
Thurs - 3200m swim, 8 mi run
Fri - 3000m swim, 6 mi run
Sat - 2.4 mi swim, 50 mi bike/3 mi run BRICK
Sun - 50 mi bike, 3000m swim
Adding up all my swims, I think this was my biggest week ever. Approximately 18500m swam! It was a good run week too. And it would have been an even better bike week had I not developed a painful saddle sore on Tuesday.
I start in a new group tomorrow. I am terrified.

I know this wasn't the case, but that whole entry made it seem like you ate a LOT, and then went swimming right after. And even I know that's bad for you...haha
