Adult-Onset ADD

I have a really hard time sitting around my apartment by myself and not eating. Which is why I think I don't sit around my apartment without anything to do... But I've run out of things to waste money on right now. So I guess after the race I will somehow have to find some way to pass the time. The problem here is that it's so hot that it's not even comfortable to sit outside by the pool. Sad. I think that's what I used to do a lot of.

I realized I really don't think I can live here permanently. The only good part about this area is the cycling. Other than that there really isn't anything to do. Maybe I should research some museums. Or go wine tasting a lot in August.

I leave for NY on Wednesday midday. Get home late that night and drive up to Lake Placid probably midday Thursday. I was thinking about getting some barbecue on the way up, since that's relatively healthy. Oh, and some awesome frozen custard. Stay tuned for my list of places to eat AFTER the race, as long as I finish of course.

I think I need to work on my nutrition strategy for the bike. Goal is 7 hours on the bike, 200 calories per hour, plus maybe an extra 100 just to be safe. So that's 1500 calories approximately. I've been eating Pop-Tarts on the longer rides along with Clif Bars and Lara Bars. I was using Bonk Breaker bars but I think they don't agree with my stomach. One Pop-tart pastry is 200 calories, a Clif Bar is 250 calories, and a Lara Bar is 200. I will drink Gatorade and water from the course. I don't want to rot out my stomach so I'm sticking with solid food on the bike and gels on the run. A bottle of premixed Gatorade is 150 calories I think. So 2-3 bottles of Gatorade and 1050 solid food calories. I think that would be 2 Pop-Tart pastries, 2 Clif Bars, and 1 Lara Bar. 1100 calories there and Gatorade. Not sure how many gels I need on the run though... I can get by with 4 on standalone marathons along with Gatorade, but that's when I go into the run with full glycogen stores. But there will be cola and maybe something salty at the aid stations so I may use those too. For some reason lately I have been craving pretzels and salt, not sure why. I usually only crave sugar.

Good luck! Kick ass! Take care of yourself and don't overdo it.
Can't wait to hear all about it.
