I'm on a short mid-season break, and I know I owe a couple reports on the Death Ride and Vineman 70.3 (the race that really wasn't) but the GRE is Friday and I am in the midst of panic mode.
However, I came home from work a bit early today since I woke up with a sore throat and have being suffering some malaise all day, and turned on the television. Since I pretty much only watch NBC and Versus, and it was a rest day for the Tour so NBC was on, I was greeted by Oprah who was about to award the winners of a cook-off she had on her show. The winners won $500 worth of small kitchen appliances (blender, toaster, mixer, etc) AND a whole set of top-of-the-line, energy efficient large kitchen appliances including stove, refridgerator, dishwasher, etc, along with a washer and dryer. Which brought me to thinking, hmm what if I just start creating recipes and entering contests? Granted its Oprah and she has lots of sponsors to give great prizes, but even some of the other big recipe contests give a lot of money.
Something to think about...

might be a fun way to make some cash? their gluten-free category is a bit lacking.
From racing to cooking! Good experiences, both! It will help broaden your background.
