The Wall

I spent the last two days in New York cross country skiing. The place I went to on Monday might actually be one of my favorite places in the world, plus the skiing conditions were great. After five days of being in a deep freeze the temperatures made it into the 30s and it was sunny! I skiied for over five and a half hours and travelled over 40km. There were a lot of hills too, which are my favorite part. Going up was a challenge, especially for the hill in the photos above. It was named the Wall and was basically a vertical climb. But it was fun!

And then on Tuesday I went to California. I now have an apartment that I should be able to move into by Friday or Saturday and I have a gym membership to a place that reminds me of the Hills a little. There is towel service and a nice locker room and an 8-lane 79 degree outdoor pool. With a coached master's swim class. And the management and people who worked there seemed really friendly and it wasn't all commercialized like some fitness centers (cough 24Hr/Lifetime/CalFamilyFitness) So I think I am finally over the hump of not liking it here. Ironically it is a lot like the area where I grew up, except the roads are wider and the general landscape is neater. Tomorrow I go to IKEA!

Oh my! I loved your pictures of the snow. I LOVE snow since I grew up in the most northern part of Texas Panhandle, but I am not too fond of the cold. Luckily, in the Panhandle it would get cold, snow, then warm up again for a while. Good luck in getting settled. I will be anxious to hear how it goes...

Welcome to Cali!

Looks like you're 2.5 hours away by car and outside the range of public transportation (at least according to google) though~ :(

Wow, I can't believe you already moved. That's great! Did you start work yet? How do you like it so far?

Btw, the pictures from your ski trip are gorgeous!
