Or the bike? Maybe the bike is why I feel like poo on the bike when I am not going on a mostly straight, flat course. Or maybe it is me and I am not eating enough. Or maybe it is both. Going to eat more, both while riding and in general. It's starting to get predictable that my legs run out of spunk within 20-25 miles.
So Friday night I drove down to the north part of the bay area to stay over at Soda's so that we would drive up to Santa Rosa early the next morning to ride with Sarah and a bunch of people on a local ride over there. I ended up riding about 58 miles, some good miles, some not so good. Despite my weak riding, so far I think it has to be my favorite experience I've had since I've been here though. Good people, good riding, good conversation. Those are all things I have been lacking since moving here. I used to make fun of one of my friends in Austin who said he needed to talk about triathlon to be motivated, but now I think he is right. I feel so much more excited about triathlon and cycling when I get to talk to people who share the same passion IN PERSON. I feel most people here don't quite get me, plus there is no one to talk to in person about the subject. That seems to make the big difference. And it was also fun to hang out with Soda, Sarah, and everyone who are very knowledgeable about the subjects. It's nice to not be the person who knows the most for once!
So since earlier this week I was sick, my training was downsized. However, somehow I still managed over 16 hours, most of it done since Thursdays. Thursday I did 1hr15min both in the morning and after work on the trainer, then 1hr30min in morning on the trainer and 3+ hours outside on Friday, something like 3hr20min yesterday, and a 2hr run and some swimming today. I think I'm getting bored of swimming. Back in Austin there would usually be at least someone to have a small chat with when I went swimming, but now the gym just feels so lonely.
